Pilates

Something for Everyone

It does not matter if you are new to exercise or are already fit, Mi-Time offers Pilates classes for all levels. Stretch, tone and connect your body, mind and spirit.

In all the classes, the focus is on understating how our body moves. This means that they are not just “exercise classes”. I take plenty of time to explain things and you will get time to explore the movements.

I have been teaching Pilates since 2004 and am accredited to the level of Advanced Matwork. The Pilates classes that I teach incorporate bits from all sorts of systems that I find useful. And as time goes on, I am discovering more and more goodies. I like to break down the movements into smaller elements and practice these first. A big help with this is FlexAware®, which is based on the Feldenkrais teachings. I am the first instructor in the UK teaching FlexAware®.

Just ask

Please remember that whatever class you attend – it is your class. If there is something you would like to work on specifically, please just let me know. The flexibility of the Pilates system easily enables me to incorporate whatever it is you are looking for in the class.

I teach:

  • Beginners (contact me for the special 5-week beginners’ course)
  • Explore (beginners welcome)
  • Strength (previous Pilates experience advised)
  • Pilates for Bad Backs, that incorporates more FlexAware®
  • Pilates Bootcamps
  • Pay-as-you-go classes and classes as part of gyms and organisations
  • Private one-to-one sessions

Find a class near you on the Schedules & Venues page. All the classes are designed to give you the opportunity to work at your own pace and capability. This also means that it is possible to start during the course of the year, provided that there are places available.

Pilates is an activity you grow in gradually, and it grows on you. Starting Pilates has opened up a whole new world for me. I am, gradually, becoming aware of the changing possibilities and (perceived or not) restrictions of my body, including what I can do myself to make it function to its potential. Pilates has empowered me and improved my quality of life. Obviously this is an ongoing process. The Yin Yoga beautifully complements the Pilates, as do the special workshops.

Note

The Pilates classes are mat based so for all classes you should be able to get on/off the floor unassisted. If you are interested in a session, but have trouble getting off the floor, you can book a private session to get you there! There are no upper age restrictions to the classes, but adult classes are from the age of 16.

For further information, if you are not sure which class is the most suitable for you, or to register for a class please get in touch at: miranda@mi-time.eu
